The official Ball State football site is once again doing a Q & A session this offseason with all of the coaches on the coaching staff, first up is offensive coordinator Rich Skrosky. Coach Skrosky says the team needs to continue to work on achieving balance on offense between the running and passing games. Coach Skrosky also said that the team needs to work on having more explosive plays overall and to improve on screen passes. You can read the rest of the Q & A session here.
One of the reason Coach Lembo has made it such a priority to get bigger bodies at wide receiver is that bigger receivers tend to be more physical blockers. There are some exceptions to this, Martavious Odoms of Michigan was a tenacious blocker despite being only 5’9″ and maybe 175 pounds, but this should begin to improve this season with Trey Gardner, Jacolby Owens, KeVonn Mabon, Efe Scott-Emuakpor, and Jordan Williams all being much bigger than Briggs Orsbon and Torieal Gibson and competing for playing time at outside receiver. Toney Williams, Barrington Scott, and Jahwan Edwards will all be vying to be the starter at running back, hopefully one of them can emerge as an explosive runner this spring and summer.
Go Cards!!
