Two Ball State football players, senior-to-be middle linebacker Travis Freeman and senior-to-be defensive back Kenneth Lee were arrested Friday night after a bar fight allegedly happened at Dill Street Bar and Grill. Lee allegedly grabbed another person by the neck and struck him and Freeman allegedly joined the fight after it began. The person Lee attacked, Zechariah Smith, was also arrested and charged with battery. Both Freeman and Lee are being charged with battery, which is a Class B misdemeanor and can result in up to 180 days in jail if convicted.
It will be interesting to see what Coach Lembo does for punishment for the two players, they are the first two players to be arrested in Coach Lembo’s tenure, assistant coach Terry Lantz was arrested last year for DWI. If he decides to punish the players internally, I see a lot of running stadium steps in both players futures. It is possible that Coach Lembo will decide to dismiss Lee from the team, seeing as he started the confrontation, but we will have to wait and see. In any case, the Cardinals are on the board in the 2012 Fulmer Cup standings, let’s hope no other Cardinals get arrested this offseason. Remember kids, nothing good happens in the Village after midnight except for Carter’s Hot Dogs, and even they aren’t worth getting into a fight over.
Go Cards!!
